BSP Finance Senior Associate - General Partners
Benefit Street Partners ("BSP") is a leading credit-focused alternative asset management firm with approximately $41 billion in assets under management. Established in 2008, the BSP platform manages funds for institutions, high-net-worth and retail investors across various strategies including: private/opportunistic debt, liquid loans, high yield, special situations, long-short liquid credit and commercial real estate debt. These complementary strategies leverage the proprietary sourcing, analytical, operational and compliance capabilities that encompass BSP’s robust institutional platform. BSP’s operational headquarters are located in Boston, MA and support the investment team located in New York, NY.
The BSP GP Finance team is responsible for the finance and reporting obligations of BSP’s General Partner, including its carried interest plan. This position provides an excellent opportunity for a finance professional to focus on the credit, private debt funds and gain additional experience to all other investment products from both an accounting and operational standpoint.
Working with us, you will be responsible for:
- Oversight of cash reconciliation process and escalate material issues daily including issue tracking and coordination of its resolution
- Facilitate between the GP and the BSP finance teams in the month end investment reconciliation process
- Obtain working knowledge of FT Workday accounting system and assist the managed service team in issues
- Serve as the main liaison to the GP’s third-party external administrator
- Obtain working knowledge carried interest plans & incentive structures
- Assist in review of portfolio PnL reconciliation on a monthly/quarterly basis, including issue identification and resolution
- Assist in bespoke partnership & tax reporting (K-1’s)
- Annual fund audit coordination for FT consolidation, especially facilitating the cash/position confirmation process with fund admins and counterparties
- Ad hoc process improvement and automation projects
We are looking for candidates who:
- 3+ years of relevant experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
- Experience in Workday/ PeopleSoft accounting system would be an advantage
- Comfortable in maintaining and reconciling the general ledger
- Experience in reconciliation of NAV and portfolio data a plus, including but not limited to reconciliation of investment positions, investment income/profit/loss, cash activities
- Strong analytical, comprehension and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated, ability to work independently with minimal guidance
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient knowledge of Excel
- Flexible approach towards office / hybrid work arrangement (3 days minimum in-office)
